What is planned at ABOUT YOU after the end of the home office obligation?

Tarek Müller in the OMR Podcast: Our post-Covid arrangement is that people have to come into the office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Monday and Friday are remote days. That means you can come into the office if you want to, but you don't have to. And the idea is that Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will at least be internal appointments in the conference room and not hybrid appointments.

What is the long-term significance of Hybrid Work for ABOUT YOU?

Tarek Müller in the OMR Podcast: We believe in hybrid in the long term: Fifty-Fifty - that is 50% in the office and 50% remotely. However, what we want to avoid in this fifty-fifty world is that everyone is in the office on different days and you are actually in hybrid meetings all day, where two or three people sit in the conference room and two or three people are connected via video call.

IT departments are the exception

It is also worth mentioning that, according to Tarek Müller, the IT departments at ABOUT YOU will remain completely remote. Among other things, this has to do with the shortage of skilled workers in the IT sector, which has long led to employees for the IT department being recruited internationally rather than locally.

Demand for office space nevertheless unchanged

According to his reflections in the podcast, Tarek Müller does not believe that hybrid work will reduce the need for office space at ABOUT YOU in the long term. The plans at ABOUT YOU deliberately envisage that the presence in the office is concentrated on certain days that apply to everyone together. Working in the home office is indeed productive - even much more productive for working through issues. However, the shared office is the place where you informally hear about topics from other teams and where creative ideas emerge - or at least are more likely to emerge than in a video call.
