- There is a selection effect that can be observed in studies when introducing a (voluntary) home office option: According to this, employees tend to choose the place of work where they also work most efficiently (depending on type and circumstances). This has been largely ignored in the public debate to date, but can lead to increased efficiency within the company - both overall and at both work locations individually.
- In field experiments that aim to analyse the differences in efficiency between working from home and the office, both groups are usually given the same equipment in order to isolate the home office effect.
